NZX 50 Ends 0.5% Higher on Earnings Results Boost

New Zealand stocks advanced 63 points, or 0.5%, to close at 13,930 on Wednesday, their highest level since August 6. The move extended the previous session’s gains, led primarily by strength in healthcare and communication services.

Investor sentiment was supported by positive earnings results from several companies, with markets also looking ahead to further corporate releases. Upside was limited, however, by a weaker overnight session on Wall Street, where a selloff in chipmaker-related stocks, rising US Treasury yields, and higher oil prices weighed on risk appetite.

On the economic front, New Zealand’s input and output producer prices rose 2.9% and 1.6%, respectively, quarter-on-quarter in Q2, the fastest pace of increase since Q1 2025.

In corporate news, EBOS Group climbed 8.0% after reporting a 4.7% increase in net profit for the full year ended June 30, 2026. Fletcher Building jumped 6.2% after returning to profit following a loss in the previous quarter. Meanwhile, Spark NZ gained 3.3% ahead of its earnings release scheduled for Thursday.
