Argentina Trade Surplus Jumps in July

Argentina’s trade surplus widened to $2.11 billion in July 2026, an increase of $1.21 billion compared with July 2025. Exports reached $8.85 billion, up 14.1% year-on-year, driven primarily by a 97.8% surge in energy and fuel shipments, reflecting higher exports of crude oil, fuels, lubricants, and related products. Exports of manufactured industrial goods rose 11.2%, largely on the back of increased motor vehicle and transport equipment sales abroad, while exports of manufactured agricultural products grew 4.9%, supported by stronger meat exports.

Imports amounted to $6.74 billion, a 1.7% decline from a year earlier. Intermediate goods recorded the steepest drop, falling 14.9%, while imports of capital goods were down 7.7% and consumer goods decreased 7.3%. Purchases of fuels and lubricants from abroad also declined by 7.3%.
