Turkey’s consumer confidence index climbed to 90.8 in August 2026, up from 89.8 in July, marking its highest level since May 2023. The increase was driven by a more positive assessment of households’ current financial situation, with that sub-index rising to 75.4 from 74.5. Expectations for households’ financial situation over the next 12 months also improved, advancing to 93.1 from 91.4, while the sub-index measuring expectations for the general economic outlook over the coming year increased to 89.4 from 88.3. In contrast, willingness to spend on durable goods remained unchanged at 105.1. Despite the overall improvement, the headline consumer confidence index stayed below the neutral 100 level, indicating that consumers remained broadly pessimistic about economic conditions.
