Slovenia Consumer Mood Weakens in August

In August 2026, Slovenia’s consumer confidence indicator declined by 2 percentage points from the previous month, falling to -22 from a revised -20 in July. Expectations for the general economic situation over the next 12 months deteriorated further (-27 vs. -25 in July), while assessments of the economic situation over the past 12 months improved marginally (-37 vs. -38).

Households’ views of their own financial situation worsened for both the past year (-16 vs. -15) and the year ahead (-14 vs. -10). In addition, willingness to make major purchases over the next 12 months became more negative (-32 vs. -28), although it remained unchanged at -20 for the present.

Among other indicators, price expectations for the past 12 months were stable at 65, while expectations for price developments over the next 12 months increased to 56 from 47. Meanwhile, concerns about unemployment in the year ahead eased slightly, with the corresponding indicator edging down to 23 from 24.
