Week Ahead - Aug 24th

Global interest rates and long-term sovereign yields will remain at the center of market attention as investors navigate elevated energy prices, widening fiscal deficits, and a surge in corporate bond issuance. The Federal Reserve’s monetary policy stance and its approach to duration risk will come under renewed scrutiny with FOMC communications at the Jackson Hole Symposium. Nvidia’s earnings will also serve as a key barometer of global AI demand at a time when ambitious growth projections increasingly collide with concerns about overinvestment in infrastructure.

In the United States, markets are awaiting July data on personal income and spending, PCE price indices, and durable goods orders, alongside the annual benchmark revisions to nonfarm payrolls. In Europe, the ECB will publish the accounts of its latest meeting, while Germany is scheduled to release consumer and business confidence indicators and Spain and France prepare to issue new CPI readings. In Asia, Japan will report consumer confidence figures and its unemployment rate, and monetary policy decisions are expected from central banks in Korea, the Philippines, and Thailand.
