US House Prices Unchanged in June: FHFA

US single-family home prices backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were flat in June 2026 compared with May, undershooting market expectations for a 0.2% increase. Despite this monthly stagnation, prices rose 0.3% in the second quarter versus the first quarter and were 2.1% higher than a year earlier. The housing market continued to show broad-based appreciation, with prices increasing in 46 states and the District of Columbia over the past year. Alaska posted the strongest annual gain at 8.3%, followed by Vermont at 7.3% and Hawaii at 5.8%. Illinois and West Virginia each registered increases of 5.6%. However, gains were not universal: prices declined in four states, with New Mexico recording the weakest performance, down 1.2% year-on-year.
