FX.co ★ US Year-Ahead Inflation Expectations Revised Lower

US year-ahead inflation expectations, as measured by the University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers, were revised slightly down to 4.0% in August 2026, from a preliminary estimate of 4.3% and below July’s 4.2%. This marked the third consecutive monthly decline and the lowest reading since March. Longer-run inflation expectations over a five-year horizon remained unchanged at 3.3% for the third straight month, consistent with earlier estimates.
