Indonesia Inflation Picks Up to 3.19%

Indonesia’s annual inflation rate quickened to 3.19% in August 2026, up from July’s three-month low of 2.28% and slightly above market expectations of 3.13%. Despite this acceleration, inflation remained within Bank Indonesia’s target range of 1.5%–3.5%. Core inflation—excluding volatile food prices and government-administered prices—climbed to 2.92% in August, its highest level since March 2023. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.21%, reversing July’s 0.14% decline and coming in broadly in line with the consensus forecast of a 0.2% increase.
