China Stocks Track Asian Peers Lower

The Shanghai Composite fell 1.0% to 3,942 on Wednesday, while the Shenzhen Component slipped 1.5% to 13,669, extending the previous session’s losses as risk-off sentiment spread across Asian markets. Investor appetite weakened amid a renewed surge in oil prices, with escalating tensions in the Middle East heightening fears of potential supply disruptions. That, in turn, added to global inflation concerns and strengthened expectations that major central banks may keep monetary policy tighter for longer.

In geopolitical developments, Putin and Xi discussed a possible trilateral meeting with Trump during China’s APEC summit in November, and Xi is also scheduled to visit Washington later this month for talks with the US president.

On the corporate front, notable decliners included Foxconn Industrial Internet (-1.8%), Zijin Mining Group (-2.1%), CATL (-1.8%), and Zhongji Innolight (-2.8%).
