Czechia Inflation Rate at 3-Month High

The annual inflation rate in the Czech Republic increased to 1.9% in August 2026 from 1.7% in July, in line with market expectations, according to preliminary estimates. This was the highest rate since May, driven primarily by a sharper rise in prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.7% vs. 3.7% in July). Inflation also picked up for energy (2.3% vs. -0.3%) and for goods (0.2% vs. -0.2%). In contrast, price growth slowed for services (4.5% vs. 4.7%), while deflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages deepened (-4.3% vs. -3.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.3% in August, following a 0.6% increase in July.
