Tunisia Inflation Rate Hits 3-Month High of 5.4%

Tunisia’s annual inflation rate accelerated for the first time in three months, rising to 5.4% in August 2026 from a four-month low of 5.1% in July. This was the highest reading since May, largely reflecting stronger increases in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.5% vs 6.6% in July) and transportation (2.1% vs 2%). Price growth also picked up in health (3.4% vs 2.7%) and restaurants and hotels (6.6% vs 6.5%), while inflation in clothing and footwear eased slightly (9.0% vs 9.1%).

Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes food and energy, edged up to 4.9% from 4.8% in July. On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index increased by 0.5%, up from 0.2% in the previous month and marking the fastest monthly rise in four months.
