Singapore Retail Sales Edge Lower in July, Month-on-Month Growth Slows to 0.9%

Singapore’s retail sector registered a slight moderation in growth in July 2026, with month-on-month retail sales rising 0.9%, down from a 1.0% increase in June 2026. The latest data, updated on 7 September 2026, show that while consumer spending continued to expand, the pace of growth eased marginally compared with the previous month.

On a month-over-month basis, the “actual” July reading of 0.9% reflects how retail activity changed from June to July, whereas the “previous” 1.0% figure measures the change from May to June. The data suggest that retail demand remains resilient, but momentum has cooled slightly as the sector moves into the second half of the year.

Analysts and market participants will be watching upcoming releases closely to see whether July’s softer reading marks the start of a gradual slowdown in consumer activity or merely a temporary pause after stronger gains earlier in the summer period.
