Greek Growth Eases Slightly as Q2 2026 GDP Slows to 1.9% Year-on-Year

Greece’s economic expansion moderated in the second quarter of 2026, with gross domestic product (GDP) growth easing to 1.9% year-on-year, down from a revised 2.0% in the first quarter of 2026. The latest data, updated on 7 September 2026, show that while the recovery continues, its pace has slightly cooled compared with earlier in the year.

Both readings are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each quarter’s output with the same period a year earlier. The current figure for the second quarter thus reflects a marginal deceleration from the first quarter’s performance, indicating that momentum remains positive but is no longer edging higher.

The small step down in annual growth suggests that Greece is maintaining moderate expansion rather than entering a sharp slowdown. Analysts and investors will now watch upcoming quarters closely to see whether this softening proves temporary or marks the beginning of a more sustained easing in the country’s growth trajectory.
