Colombia’s consumer price inflation accelerated to 6.24% year-over-year in August 2026, up from 6.03% in July 2026, interrupting the recent disinflationary trend. The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) figure, updated on 7 September 2026, reflects price changes in August compared with the same month a year earlier.
The data show that inflationary pressures, while still markedly lower than in previous high-inflation phases, remain persistent. The increase from July’s 6.03% to August’s 6.24% on a year-over-year basis suggests that price dynamics are not yet fully stabilizing, complicating the outlook for monetary policy and real household purchasing power.
Both the current and previous readings are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each reported month with the corresponding month of the prior year. The uptick in August signals that, despite earlier progress in cooling price growth, Colombia continues to face challenges in firmly anchoring inflation closer to lower, more sustainable levels.
