Germany’s imports fell by 5.7% month-on-month to €119.6 billion in July 2026, reversing a revised 4.5% increase in June. Imports from other EU member states declined by 6.1%, reflecting lower purchases from both euro area countries (-6.5%) and non-euro area EU members (-5.1%).
Imports from non-EU countries also decreased, down 5.3%, with notable drops in shipments from China (-7.5%), the United States (-8.2%), and the United Kingdom (-1%).
On an annual basis, imports were up 3.1% in July, a sharp slowdown from the downwardly revised 14% increase recorded in June. Over the first seven months of 2026, imports totaled €828.4 billion, 4.2% higher than in the same period a year earlier.
