Lithuania’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 643.8 million in July 2026, down from EUR 909.2 million in the same month a year earlier, as export growth significantly outpaced that of imports. Exports rose by 13.6% year-on-year to EUR 3,353.6 million, driven primarily by higher shipments of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (up 62.2%), cereals (up 3.0%), and machinery and mechanical appliances and parts (up 18.3%).
Imports increased by 3.5% to EUR 3,997.3 million, reflecting higher purchases of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (up 17.1%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts (up 8.8%), and organic chemicals (up 53.1%).
Over the January–July period, Lithuania’s trade deficit widened slightly to EUR 4,198.6 million, compared with EUR 4,148.3 million in the same period of the previous year. During these seven months, Lithuania’s exports were directed mainly to Latvia, which accounted for 13.4% of total exports, followed by Poland (12.2%) and Germany (9.1%). Imports originated chiefly from Poland (13.8% of total imports), Germany (12.7%), and Latvia (8.4%).
