Dominican Inflation Eases in August

The annual inflation rate in the Dominican Republic slowed to 5.13% in August 2026, down from 5.47% in July. The most pronounced price increases were observed in restaurants and hotels (7.96%), transport (7.36%), education (7.08%), and food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.90%). By contrast, prices declined in clothing and footwear (-1.08%) and communications (-1.76%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.38%, quickening from a 0.19% increase in the previous month. Cumulative inflation since the start of the year reached 2.60%. At the same time, annual core inflation eased to 4.76%, down from 4.96% in July.
