Poland’s Core CPI Ticks Up to 3.3% YoY in August, Ending Downtrend

Poland’s core consumer price index (CPI) rose to 3.3% year-over-year in August 2026, edging up from 3.1% in July, according to data updated on 16 September 2026. The reading captures underlying inflation dynamics by excluding the most volatile components and compares price changes in August 2026 with the same month a year earlier.

The slight acceleration in August marks a pause in the prior easing of core inflation, as July’s 3.1% year-over-year figure had represented a lower pace of growth versus a year earlier. Both the current and previous readings are measured on a yearly basis, comparing each month’s price levels to those of the corresponding month in the prior year. Investors and policymakers will be watching upcoming data closely to see whether August’s uptick signals the start of renewed core price pressures or a temporary fluctuation within a broader disinflation trend.
