Sensex Opens Marginally Higher

India’s BSE Sensex inched up about 0.2% to 73,747 on Friday, partially recovering from the previous session’s losses, though sentiment remained cautious amid elevated crude oil prices and higher global bond yields. Brent crude hovered near $106 a barrel, stoking concerns over India’s import bill and the broader inflation outlook.

Investors also kept a close watch on geopolitical developments in the Middle East, where US and Iranian negotiators are reportedly exploring a phased pathway to de‑escalate the conflict.

Technology shares remained under pressure as markets evaluated the impact of higher US yields and softer global demand on technology spending. Financial stocks were similarly weak after India proposed new limits on insurance commissions. PB Fintech slumped 36% on Thursday following the proposal, with its CEO warning that the move could weigh on the company’s non-life insurance operations, overall spending, and hiring plans.

Among individual names, Welspun rose 4.6% and Kaveri climbed 5.0%, while Infosys slipped 1.5% and PB Fintech fell a further 2.3%. The benchmark index remains on course for a weekly decline of around 0.8%.
