U.S. Refinery Crude Runs Extend Weekly Decline, EIA Data Shows

Refinery crude runs in the United States fell again in the latest week, with the indicator slipping to -0.554 million barrels, according to data updated on 30 September 2026 by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The move marks a slightly larger week-over-week decline compared with the prior reading of -0.519 million barrels.

On a week-over-week basis, the “actual” figure reflects the change in refinery runs for the current week versus the previous week, while the “previous” figure captures the change seen in the prior week compared with the week before that. The back-to-back negative readings indicate that U.S. refineries have been processing less crude oil for at least two consecutive weeks, underscoring a modest but persistent slowdown in refinery activity.
