Hong Kong Stocks Rebound as Asian Markets Recover

The Hang Seng Index climbed 0.9%, or 212 points, to 24,272 on Friday, rebounding from the previous session’s losses as Asian equities recovered from a broad selloff in technology and semiconductor stocks. Dip buyers returned to the market amid easing concerns over global volatility, while lower bond yields reduced pressure on equities and encouraged bargain hunting in recently battered names, in step with gains on Wall Street.

A rebound in regional chipmakers further supported risk appetite, though lingering doubts about the durability of artificial intelligence–related spending continued to weigh on parts of the technology sector. Market participants also looked ahead to remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh for further guidance on the US interest-rate path, while awaiting the release of Hong Kong business confidence data later in the day.

Among notable movers, Tencent rose 2.4%, Lenovo 1.7%, Xiaomi 1.8%, AIA 1.0%, and Z.AI Co. advanced 3.3%.
