Week Ahead - Oct 19th

Geopolitical tensions in Ukraine and the Middle East are set to remain a key driver of financial markets, particularly as global oil supplies tighten and inflation indicators move higher. The corporate earnings season will intensify, with results from Meta and Tesla providing fresh insight into the highly volatile AI trade. Additional earnings reports are expected from P&G, Netflix, GE Aerospace, SAP, and Texas Instruments.

On the macroeconomic front, S&P Global PMIs for the US, the Eurozone, Japan, Australia, and India will offer an initial read on economic activity in October. The US will also release a slate of important housing data. In Europe, investor and business sentiment will be in focus, with publications including Germany’s ZEW survey and the European Commission’s economic sentiment indicator. In the UK, a data-heavy week will center on inflation and labor market conditions.

In Asia, China’s monthly data release will feature Q3 GDP growth, while Japan will publish its latest inflation and trade figures. Canada is also scheduled to release its consumer price index (CPI).
