India’s BSE Sensex climbed 0.8% to 74,401 on Wednesday, rebounding from the previous session’s losses as optimism over IT earnings lifted technology shares. Investors also closely tracked quarterly corporate results and the initial public offering of Jio Platforms.
The $3.2 billion IPO of Reliance Industries’ digital subsidiary opened for subscription on Wednesday, gauging market appetite for large public offerings. In earnings, Bajaj Finance reported a 28.7% year-on-year rise in quarterly profit, while Hindustan Zinc’s profit more than doubled, supported by higher metal prices. L&T Technology Services likewise posted gains in both revenue and profit and issued an upbeat outlook for the second half of fiscal year 2027.
However, elevated crude prices remained a key risk to market sentiment. Brent crude advanced to around $110 per barrel amid intensifying supply concerns in the Middle East and a drawdown in US crude inventories. Among notable technology gainers, TCS rose 2.7%, Infosys 3.4%, HCL 1.9%, and Tech Mahindra 1.7%.
