Palestine Trade Gap Hits Highest Since 2023

Palestine’s trade deficit widened to USD 559.6 million in August 2026, up from USD 476.6 million in the same month a year earlier. This was the largest deficit since August 2023, as imports climbed 19% year-on-year to USD 776.6 million. The increase was driven mainly by a 16% rise in imports from Israel, which accounted for 62% of total imports, while imports from other countries grew by 23%.

Exports rose 23% to USD 217.0 million, supported by a 29% increase in shipments to Israel, which made up 96% of total exports. By contrast, exports to other countries plunged 46%.

Over the January–August period, the trade deficit narrowed to USD 3,027.4 million, compared with USD 3,713.2 million in the same period a year earlier.
