Morocco CPI Rebounds in September

Consumer prices in Morocco increased by 0.5% year-on-year in September 2026, marking the strongest annual rise since May and ending two consecutive months of deflation in July and August. The rebound was driven mainly by higher transportation costs (9.4% vs. 7.3% in August), as well as increases in prices for miscellaneous goods and services (3.9% vs. 3.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.9% vs. 3.9%), and restaurants and hotels (2.9% vs. 2.3%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1% in September— the sharpest increase since March— after a 0.8% gain in August. The largest monthly increases were recorded in food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.7%), transportation (1%), and education (1.2%).
