Irish Inflation Ticks Higher as HICP Climbs to 4.0% in October

Ireland’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) accelerated in October 2026, edging up to 4.0% year-over-year from 3.8% in September, according to data updated on 3 November 2026.

The October reading means inflation, measured on a harmonised basis comparable across the EU, has strengthened slightly when comparing prices to the same month a year ago. The previous figure for September reflected a 3.8% year-over-year rise, while October’s 4.0% suggests price pressures have picked up modestly rather than continuing to ease.

Both the current and previous indicators are based on year-over-year comparisons, measuring how much prices in each month have changed against the corresponding month in the prior year, confirming that October saw a small but notable re-acceleration in Irish consumer price growth.
