Then the computer distributes the virus to other users launching the Locky ransomware. It codes the drive's data demanding to pay for its decompression.

Check Point's experts are sure that such situation is possible through the ImageGate technology. The specialists found the attack vector, touching the leading web-sites and international social media such as Facebook and LinkedIn. The experts of Check Point informed the service managers about the threat in September.

In order to prevent such situations it is recommended to use the most up-to-date versions of antiviruses.
