Trump and sheriffs: meeting at the White House
On Tuesday, February 7, a group of U.S. sheriffs met with President Donald Trump at the White House. There were 10 guests.
Among the guests also were supporters of the new president, for example, the sheriffs of Wyoming, Texas and Minnesota, supporting the strategy of the current head of the White House.
The meeting's agenda was to discuss a range of topics, including violent crime and drug trafficking. Also, the head of state hoped to learn how his orders on limiting migration are carrying out.
The immigration issue became the crucial one in the the president's conversation with the sheriffs. According to the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA), this topic was discussed during the meeting.
At the meeting, the problem of the prisoners were also affected, in particular, their mental health. In addition, the sheriffs discussed with the president the program, authorizing the federal government to transfer military supplies to law enforcement agencies on the ground.
