World's unique bookstores
In a world where electronic devices are gradually replacing hard copies, in particular books, the appearance of exclusive bookstores can be considered an amazing fact. It is especially pleasing when such buildings are made in a unique style. Let's talk about those of them where you would want to return and buy books.
Cafebrería El Péndulo (Mexico)
The Cafebrería El Péndulo Mexican bookstore, located in Mexico City, is one of the most unusual places in the world. This is literally a "green" store, where at every corner there are plants. In the middle of the building trees grow, and on top, on the shelves with books, flower pots are arranged. The fragrance of flowers and fresh plants not only creates a mood but also cleans the air. Inside the building, there is a lot of natural light coming through the large windows. Visitors are allowed to bring drinks and food.
El Ateneo Grand Splendid (Argentina)
In Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, a unique bookstore is located in the former Gran Splendid theater building. When you are inside, you get the feeling that the curtain is about to go up and the show will begin. Earlier, 1,050 people could fit in the amphitheater, and now 120,000 books "live" there. Every evening in the store musical groups perform, and on the scene, there is a cozy cafe.
Cook&Book (Belgium)
The Cook & Book Brussels restaurant is a unique combination of a restaurant and a bookstore. Books, as if soaring under the ceiling, symbolize the infinity of the universe immersing visitors in the unusual atmosphere of the "book restaurant". In the store, you can buy a book, and take it at the table sitting on a soft comfortable sofa.
Libreria Aqua Alta (Italy)
The Libreria Aqua Alta Italian bookstore, located in Venice, fully corresponds to its name. The premises of the store are situated on the first floor of an ancient Venetian building which is periodically flooded. In the bookshop, there are models of ships and a real gondola. Throughout the store, cats are walking around, they are the owner's favorites. The choice of publications is diverse and presented in different languages.
Livraria Lello & Irmão (Portugal)
This store, located in the city of Porto, is considered one of the oldest in Portugal. It was opened in the distant 1881 and from now on holds the first place among the most delightful bookshops in the world. The place is famous for its unique interior, including stained glass windows and unusual wooden carvings. The "highlight" of the interior is a magnificent staircase, a cascade of bookshelves in the Art Deco style and a bizarre two-tier architecture.
Poplar Kid's Republic (China)
The Poplar Kid's Republic children's bookstore opened in Beijing, China. It was created by the SAKO architectural company and embodies the dreams of any child. Inside the shop, the futuristic style prevails. The building resembles an alien shuttle, which is dominated by slides, a huge number of toys and rounded bookshelves. The shelves have glass walls. A child can climb them and rest with a book in a separate round "capsule".
