On January 14, a car bomb blast hit police headquarters in the province of Diyarbakir (south-eastern Turkey), killing six people and wounding at least 39. The bomb was detonated at the entrance of the Cinar district police HQ, officials say.

Some policemen were among casualties. Besides, some civilians including children were hurt during the explosion. Officials blamed the blast on Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) militants, who are active in the mainly Kurdish province.

Importantly, it is the second terror attack over the week in Turkey. On January 12, Istanbul, the main tourist and cultural center, witnessed several explosions. The blast tore through a crowd of visitors gathered near the Blue Mosque in the Sultanahmet district, a popular tourist area.
