BHP (BHP.AX, BLT.L, BBL, BHP) announced a modest rise in its second-quarter total iron ore production, reaching 66.22 million tonnes, slightly up from 65.76 million tonnes in the same period last year.
Production from Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) also experienced a slight increase, totaling 64.75 million tonnes compared to 64.46 million tonnes in the previous year.
On a 100% basis, quarterly WAIO production saw an uptick to 73.07 million tonnes from the previous year’s 72.67 million tonnes.
The company clarified that the iron ore production figures are reported on a wet tonnes basis.
For the fiscal year 2025, BHP maintains its iron ore production guidance at between 255 million tonnes and 265.5 million tonnes.
Moreover, BHP noted a 17% rise in total copper production for the second quarter, reaching 510.7 thousand tonnes. The copper production guidance for fiscal year 2025 remains stable, projected to be between 1.845 million tonnes and 2.045 million tonnes.
