Dutch Inflation Rate Confirmed at 3.7% in March

In March 2025, the Netherlands saw its annual inflation rate confirmed at 3.7%, a slight decline from February's 3.8%. There was a moderation in price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages, dropping to 3.9% from the previous 4.3%. Similarly, inflation in the transport sector eased to 1% from 1.2%. Clothing and footwear experienced a reduced price growth of 0.2%, down from 0.5%, while recreation and culture saw inflation decrease to 2.9% from 3.5%. Conversely, inflation edged higher in the housing and utilities sector, reaching 4% compared to 3.9% in the previous month, and also increased for upholstery and household appliances, which rose to 1.9% from 0.5%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.4%, marking a slowdown from February’s seven-month high of 1.1%. The harmonized Consumer Price Index (CPI), tailored for EU-wide comparisons, reported a year-on-year rise of 3.4% in March, following a 3.5% increase in the previous month.
