The FGV-IBRE Consumer Confidence Index in Brazil, when adjusted for seasonality, increased by 0.5 points to reach 84.8 in April 2025. This marks the second consecutive rise following three straight months of decline. The upward momentum is largely attributed to a 0.7-point gain in the expectations index, lifting it to 88.1, while the current situation index experienced a marginal increase of 0.1 points, bringing it to 81.1. Anna Carolina Gouveia, an economist at FGV IBRE, noted, "The improvement in April is primarily propelled by enhanced future expectations, especially concerning the local economic outlook. Nonetheless, consumer confidence still reflects pervasive and robust pessimism."
