The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, an indicator of shipping rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, continued its upward trend for a second consecutive session on Thursday, reaching its highest point since April 7 at 1,353, with an increase of 53 points. This growth was supported by advances in all segments. The capesize index, which is associated with ships that carry 150,000-ton shipments such as iron ore and coal, also saw a two-day increase, climbing by 114 points to 1,846, the highest level since April 8. Meanwhile, the panamax index, typically monitoring ship operations for 60,000-70,000-ton loads of coal or grains, extended its rise for the seventh session in a row, ascending by 39 points to 1,372, the highest since April 4. Among smaller categories of vessels, the supramax index experienced a 12-point increase, reaching a three-week peak of 976 points.
