Serbia Trade Gap Widens in March

In March 2025, Serbia experienced an increase in its trade deficit, reaching USD 1,275 million, compared to USD 760.3 million in the same month the previous year. This deficit growth was driven by a 2.6% year-over-year decline in exports, which fell to USD 2,804 million. The decrease in exports was largely due to reduced sales in intermediate goods, which dropped by 2.2%, capital goods, down 4.5%, and items not classified by MIG destination, which fell by 2.7%. On the other hand, imports surged by 16.8%, amounting to USD 4,079 million. This rise in imports was mainly due to substantial increases in purchases of energy, which soared by 59.2%, and significant growth in the imports of intermediate goods by 1.2%, durable consumer goods by 27.0%, non-durable consumer goods by 40.8%, and goods unclassified by MIG destination, which rose by 28.5%.
