Retail sales in Argentina experienced a notable rise of 66.9% in April 2025 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, based on current prices. This represents a moderation from the 86.7% increase documented in the prior month. Several retail segments displayed a deceleration in growth, including bookstores and stationery (42.3% versus 68.6% in March), food courts and restaurants (74.1% compared to 92.0%), and clothing, footwear, and leather goods (53.2% as opposed to 78.3%). Similarly, pharmacies and perfumeries reported a slower growth rate (50.5% against 70.4%), while segments like toys (80.6% versus 112.5%) and electronics and IT (93.8% compared to 137.7%) also expanded at a more gradual pace. Conversely, the leisure and recreation sector witnessed a substantial uptick, soaring to 123.6% from a previous 71.9%. When accounting for constant prices, retail sales grew 19.2% on an annual basis, a decrease from the 26.8% rise observed in March.
