In May 2025, Malaysia's unemployment rate decreased to 3.0% from 3.3% reported in the same month the previous year, reaching its lowest point since April 2015 for the second month in succession. The number of unemployed individuals dropped by 5.7% compared to the previous year, bringing it to just over five-month low at 522.4 thousand. Concurrently, employment figures rose by 2.9%, hitting a new peak of 16.86 million. Additionally, the labor force participation rate climbed to a historic high of 70.8% in May, compared to 70.6% the previous year, marking the second consecutive month at this unprecedented level.
