In June 2025, retail sales in Romania experienced a year-on-year increase of 2.5%, a slowdown from May's upwardly revised growth rate of 2.8%. The growth rate for non-food products decreased to 5.8% from 7.7% in the previous month, while automotive fuel sales saw a modest increase of 0.2%, down from 1.6% in May. Conversely, the decline in sales for food, beverages, and tobacco eased slightly, improving from a contraction of 1.1% to 0.7%. On a monthly basis, retail trade rebounded with a 1.1% increase in June, recovering from a 0.3% decline in the previous month and achieving the highest growth rate since September 2024.
