The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, an indicator of shipping rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, ended its two-day decline on Wednesday, increasing by 3.8% to reach 1,994 points, buoyed by all vessel categories. The capesize index, typically used for transporting 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, broke its two-day slide by rising approximately 6% to 3,187 points. Meanwhile, the panamax index, which generally carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, reversed its multi-day decline with a 1.1% increase, reaching 1,643 points. Additionally, the supramax index for smaller vessels rose by 1.6%, achieving its highest level since July 23, at 1,300 points.
