Georgia Trade Deficit Narrows in August

In August 2025, Georgia saw its trade deficit reduce to USD 752.4 million compared to USD 815.3 million in the same month the previous year. This represents the smallest deficit since March 2024, with a slower decline in exports relative to imports. Export figures decreased by 5.9% year-over-year, reaching USD 603.0 million, whereas imports fell by 6.9%, amounting to USD 1,355.5 million. However, over the first eight months of the year, the trade deficit expanded to USD 7,354.5 million from USD 6,594.5 million during the same period the prior year, as import growth at 9.7% significantly outpaced the 6.7% increase in exports.
