Swedish Household Spending Up 0.4% in August

In August 2025, household spending in Sweden rose by 0.4% from the previous month, aligning with the adjusted data for July. This upward trend was chiefly fueled by increased consumption in the transport sector, as well as in the sales and services of motor vehicles, which saw a significant rise of 2.6% following a decline of 2.2% previously. Meanwhile, expenditures on food and beverages remained stable, having grown by 2.2% in July. Conversely, spending on recreation and culture, along with goods and services, experienced slight declines, falling by 0.3% and 0.5%, respectively. Annually, household consumption expanded by 2.5%, slightly down from the revised 2.7% increase observed in the prior period.
