UK Private Sector Growth Quickens in December

The UK's S&P Global Composite PMI increased to 52.1 in December 2025, a rise from November's 51.2, and surpassing the market's expected figure of 51.6. The data indicates the UK's private sector has been expanding for the eighth month in a row, with growth speeding up when compared to the previous month. Both the services sector (achieving a PMI of 52.1 compared to 51.3) and manufacturing sector (reaching an over one-year high with a PMI of 51.2 from 50.2 in November) demonstrated stronger performance. Inflationary pressures have intensified, as input costs have risen at their fastest rate since May, and prices charged are at their highest level since August.
