Poland Inflation Rate Falls Less than Anticipated

Poland’s annual inflation rate eased for the fourth consecutive month, reaching a near two-year low of 2.2% in January 2026, down from 2.4% in December. The slowdown was largely driven by last year’s high base effect. Nevertheless, the outcome slightly exceeded market expectations of 2%. Prices continued to rise in several key categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.4%), housing (+2.9%), and energy (+3.4%), while transportation costs fell by 7%. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.6% in January, following no change in the previous month.
