Latvia’s unemployment rate edged down to 6.7% in the fourth quarter of 2025, from 6.9% in both the previous quarter and the same period a year earlier. The number of unemployed decreased to 63.8 thousand, compared with 66.2 thousand in Q3. Total employment, however, also declined, falling to 882.8 thousand from 892.1 thousand, which lowered the employment rate to 64.8%, a drop of 0.4 percentage points quarter on quarter. Youth unemployment rose to 13.5%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points from Q3, even though the number of unemployed young people dipped slightly by 0.3 thousand to 8.5 thousand, representing 13.3% of all unemployed. At the same time, 30.6% of the population aged 15–74—416.8 thousand people—remained economically inactive, up by 6.2 thousand compared with the previous quarter.
