Australia’s building capital expenditure posted a modest gain in the fourth quarter of 2025, rising to 2.3% from 2.1% in the previous quarter, according to data updated on 26 February 2026.
The move marks a slight acceleration from the third quarter of 2025, when building capex increased by 2.1%. Measured on a month-over-month comparison basis, the latest reading suggests that construction-related investment continued to grow at a steady pace toward the end of 2025, reinforcing signs of resilience in the sector despite a challenging global backdrop.
While the increase from 2.1% to 2.3% is incremental, the uptick indicates that firms in Australia continued to expand or upgrade their building stock in the fourth quarter, potentially supporting broader economic activity into 2026.
