Slovakia Consumer Mood Edges Up in February

Slovakia’s consumer confidence indicator increased to -25 in February 2026 from -26.7 in January, but still stood 5.1 points below its long-term average. The overall improvement was driven by a less pessimistic assessment of the general economic outlook (-38.2 vs -42.6) and of households’ savings position (-16.2 vs -20.8). In contrast, expectations for households’ future financial situation worsened (-12.3 vs -11.7), and concerns about unemployment intensified (33.3 vs 31.5). Among other components, consumers were slightly less negative about major purchases (-19.2 vs -19.7), although sentiment in this area remained weak, while inflation expectations edged up (30.7 vs 30.6).
