Austria’s Harmonised Inflation Ticks Up to 2.7% in July on Yearly Comparison

Austria’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) edged higher in July, with the year-over-year rate rising to 2.7%, up from 2.6% previously. Both the current and previous readings relate to July 2026, reflecting successive annual comparisons based on the same reference month a year earlier.

The data, updated on 19 August 2026, show that inflationary pressures, as measured on a harmonised basis with other EU countries, have firmed slightly rather than continuing to ease. The “actual” figure captures the change in prices this July compared with July a year ago, while the “previous” figure reflects the change recorded in the prior month’s release, which compared that earlier month to its own level a year earlier.

The modest uptick suggests price growth remains contained but not yet on a clearly declining path, a detail closely watched by investors and policymakers assessing the trajectory of Austria’s inflation within the broader euro area context.
