Eurozone Current Account Surplus Widens in June

The Euro Area’s current account surplus widened to €46.9 billion in June 2026, up from €37.6 billion in June 2025. The primary income surplus—which includes cross-border flows such as dividends, wages, and direct investment income—increased sharply to €15.3 billion from €5.0 billion. The services surplus also improved, rising to €24.1 billion from €22.6 billion. In contrast, the goods surplus narrowed to €21.5 billion from €23.6 billion, while the secondary income deficit widened slightly to €14.1 billion from €13.7 billion. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the current account surplus rose to €35.1 billion in June from €25.8 billion in May, significantly exceeding market expectations of €22.1 billion.
