CL/Crude Oil
Technical and Fundamental Analysis of Crude Oil (CL) Crude oil prices recovered during Asian trading on Wednesday, trading near $101.36 per barrel after two consecutive sessions of declines. The rebound comes as energy markets assess escalating geopolitical risks across the Middle East, renewed diplomatic efforts involving Iran, and uncertainty surrounding Israel's political future. Although diplomatic developments could eventually reduce the regional risk premium, persistent security concerns continue to support oil prices and limit the potential for a sustained decline. Geopolitical developments remain a major influence on crude oil prices as investors monitor Israel's political situation and its potential implications for the wider regional conflict. Reports of a closely contested election have added uncertainty over the country's future political direction, with the balance of power potentially influencing its approach toward Iran and regional security. Benjamin Netanyahu has remained a dominant figure in Israeli politics for decades, leading the country through an extended period of conflict. Any change in political leadership or parliamentary alignment could affect the outlook for diplomatic negotiations and military strategy. For oil markets, the central concern is whether political developments will reduce the likelihood of further escalation or increase the risk of additional confrontation. At the same time, diplomatic activity has provided a potential counterweight to geopolitical concerns. Meetings involving Iranian leaders and officials from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey have raised hopes of renewed regional engagement. Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has also called for an end to the prolonged state of uncertainty between war and peace, reinforcing the possibility of further diplomatic efforts. Nevertheless, the outlook for a broader settlement remains uncertain. Continued violence involving Iran-aligned groups, including the Houthi movement in Yemen, highlights the risk that regional tensions could spread to major energy-producing countries and critical infrastructure. Reports of attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and its oil facilities have heightened concerns over potential supply disruptions. The threat of further military action remains another important factor for crude oil. U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that Washington faces a choice between pursuing an agreement with Iran and taking more decisive action. Such uncertainty makes it difficult for traders to confidently price in a sustained easing of geopolitical risks. Commerzbank has warned that additional U.S. strikes against Iran could occur following the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. The bank has also highlighted the importance of Israel's political developments, noting that a renewed Netanyahu-led government could maintain a confrontational approach toward Tehran. Any escalation involving Iran could increase the risk premium embedded in crude oil prices, particularly if energy infrastructure or important transportation routes are affected. Crude oil is trading near $101.36 in a consolidative phase across the H4 and H1 timeframes. Price remains just below the 20-period simple moving average (SMA) near $101.45 and the 50-period SMA around $101.65. These moving averages are acting as dynamic resistance, reinforcing a supply zone between $101.40 and $101.70 where sellers have repeatedly limited upward momentum. On the H4 chart, the broader structure remains constructive while prices hold above the longer-term cloud and major moving averages. Nevertheless, short-term momentum has weakened as crude struggles to reclaim the 20-period and 50-period SMAs. This suggests that buyers remain active but have yet to establish sufficient momentum for a sustained breakout. The H1 timeframe shows tighter range-bound trading, with overlapping candles around the current price level. This pattern reflects indecision as immediate selling pressure meets residual demand. A decisive move above the $101.40–$101.70 resistance zone would improve the short-term outlook and potentially open the way toward $102.20. Beyond that level, the recent swing-high region between $103.00 and $103.90 represents a more substantial supply area. On the downside, the key demand zone lies between $100.30 and $100.60. This region is supported by previous swing lows and earlier session price action, making it an important area for buyers to defend. A sustained hold above this zone would preserve the possibility of another recovery attempt toward the moving averages. However, a decisive break below $100.30 could expose the next significant demand area near the 200-period SMA, around $98.60–$99.00. Such a move would signal weakening short-term structure and suggest that sellers are gaining greater control. The near-term technical outlook favors range-bound trading between $100.30 and $101.70 until price breaks decisively beyond either boundary. Geopolitical tensions and concerns over potential supply disruptions provide underlying support, while uncertainty surrounding diplomatic negotiations limits the clarity of the directional outlook. A sustained break above $101.70 could encourage further gains toward $102.20 and potentially $103.00–$103.90. Conversely, a failure to defend the $100.30–$100.60 demand zone would increase the risk of a deeper correction toward $98.60–$99.00.
