Lockheed Martin has announced that the Government of Romania has confirmed its intention to acquire 32 of its 5th Generation F-35 Lightning II aircraft. This commitment was formalized through a Letter of Offer and Acceptance under the U.S. government's Foreign Military Sale program. According to Lockheed Martin, Romania's new fleet of F-35s will seamlessly integrate with their existing fleet of F-16s. Notably, last year marked the establishment of the European F-16 Training Center in Romania, an initiative undertaken by Lockheed Martin in partnership with the Romanian and Dutch governments.
Bridget Lauderdale, Vice President and General Manager of the F-35 Lightning II Program at Lockheed Martin, commented, "For nearly 30 years, Romania and Lockheed Martin have been defense and security partners."
